Risk, safety and compliance consultant

In essence this role is about providing a client with assurance that whatever function or operation they are looking to undertake or are currently undertaking, they are safe and compliant and within regulations.

This could be in any area of the rail industry revolving around assessing engineering design and engineering design and operational changes although will not exclusively be so prescriptive.

Responsibilities require providing clients with:

Expert knowledge of railway safety and interoperability requirements.
Independent Safety Assessment and Independent Verification of rail systems
Competent Person Assessment.
Preparation of Safety Case documentation.
Management of overall system approvals
Strategic and project safety/risk assessment.
RAMS EN50126 advice

The Risk, Safety and compliance engineer will be responsible for taking and interpreting client requirements, creating a project plan of how to deliver and then managing the delivery. Alternatively, they will be required to support larger projects and interface with the relevant personnel.

Essential Desirable
2 Years experience of Reliability or Safety Engineering in a high integrity Industry, or relevant engineering experience in a high integrity or complex industry (will consider grad with a relevant degree who can display a keen aptitude and interest for this type of work)
OR
2 Years experience of standards compliance or conformity assessment activities in a high integrity Industry, or relevant engineering experience in a high integrity or complex industry (will consider grad with a relevant degree who can display a keen aptitude and interest for this type of work) 10 years experience as a RAMS engineer, safety engineer, reliability engineer in the Rail industry Also relevant experience in specific subjects such as:
RAMS, Fire safety, software safety, signalling safety, operational safety would be useful
OR
10 years experience as a compliance or conformity assessment in the Rail industry Also relevant experience in specific subjects such as:
Fire safety, software, signalling, infrastructure would be useful
Experience in Rolling stock, Rail Infrastructure or Signalling or operations.

Qualifications Required
=======================

Degree Educated or equivalent in a relevant subject. Generally this will be an engineering based subject.
